Georgia Lockwood's Journey
I really don’t remember starting at The Martial Arts Place as I was only 5 years old! Senseis Will and Aaron did a demonstration at my school summer fair and my brother and his friends were all quite excited by it so I suppose it was a natural that my mum would sign me up too! The first thing I really remember is being terrified of the noise that the blockers made when they were slammed on the floor – something which Sensei Aaron did a lot in the games we played at the end of class. More than once Sensei Will had to pick me up and run with me so that I could play the game but not have complete hysterics about the noise!
I progressed through all the stages for the Little Monkeys, getting all my different coloured T shirts, stars ones included. At the end they had to create a little Monkey’s black belt for me and Cei before we went up to the juniors and started doing regular belts!
I love kickboxing and can’t really imagine not doing it. I really like the technical side most of all but am working on my sparring, trying to do more to become more confident about it. TMAP has been part of my life for as long as I remember and is like a second home! I’ve made lots of really good friends there who go to different schools and a few of us are hoping to grade for our Junior Black Belt very soon.
