Junior Black Belt's Journey
I was 7 years old when I started kickboxing at TMAP in 2014.We’d tried it at our school fair and my mum decided to sign me up for a trial class.I wasn’t particularly keen, but it wasn’t because of the kickboxing, I just didn’t like trying new things, was very shy and lacked confidence. However, after the trial class I found that I really enjoyed it and that was it!
Throughout my years training at TMAP, I’ve progressed through my junior belts alongside my school friend Macsen who started kickboxing with me after that school fair. We finally (delayed by Covid) graded for our Junior Black Belts in December 2021.
Training at TMAP has boosted my confidence, aided by having to help teach the juniors for the volunteering part of my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.Senseis Will, Aaron, Georges and Fabio have pushed me over the years to have more faith in myself and while I’m still not the most confident person in the world, I hope that I’m considerably more self-assured than that timid and reluctant 7 year old! Now I’m 15 I’ve moved up to the adults’ class, graded over to my adult red belt and am now working towards my blue belt.
